NEW CIRCULATION: "Epidemiology of foodborne diseases" by Nikolaos Andritsos

It is with great pleasure that I welcome the first edition of the book "Epidemiology of Foodborne Diseases" by Nikolaos Andritsos, to whom I am deeply grateful for sharing with me this first attempt of his writing on such an important and demanding scientific subject, giving me the opportunity to see the pre-publication of the book and to be its first "judge". The science of Epidemiology, in and from humanity's recent experience with the coronavirus pandemic, seems more relevant than ever. The approach attempted by Dr. Through this edition, Andritsos does not aspire to cover the subject of Epidemiology in its entirety, after all there are clearly more comprehensive works on this specific subject by "holy monsters" of Medicine and the field of Hygiene and Epidemiology (Lilienfield, Gordis, Trichopoulos etc. a.). However, the epidemiological approach to foodborne diseases and their correlation with food hygiene is successfully attempted with this manual.
I personally know Dr. Andritsos and his scientific-professional work in recent years, which are a guarantee for the publication of a book of high standards. Indeed, Dr. Andritsos successfully manages to convey terms and basic concepts of Epidemiology, in order to give the reader in a completely clear, understandable and understandable way, interspersed with several examples, an impression of foodborne diseases today and the importance they present in terms of humans and population in general.
The book you have in your hands can be an invaluable academic work for students in the Departments of Food Science and Public Health, as well as a supplementary textbook of epidemiology, but also an important aid for many medical colleagues, as well as for anyone who wants to delve further into the epidemiology of foodborne diseases. diseases. Besides, this edition is the first writing effort in Greek of a specialized epidemiology book on foodborne diseases.
I wholeheartedly wish every success in this effort, which contributes to the existence of good scientific books, written in Greek, which the academic field always needs.
